- Black and White
- Liver and White
- Liver/White Tricolor
- Black/White Tricolor
Size
The typical Springer Spaniel will generally weigh between 45 and 55 pounds. Average height will range from 18 to 22 inches at the shoulder - females tend to be smaller then males.
Distinct Traits
Springer Spaniels that are bred for the show ring are well known for their long, hanging ears and droopy eyes. A correct Springer will have a nice blanket or shawl (black or liver) with white feet as well as distinct feathering of the under belly, chest and legs. Their tails are docked short and they are thicker in bone structure then their field counterparts.
Field Springers tend have coarser, shorter coats with shorter ears and may give off a rough appearance. They are bred for their hunting abilities, speed and agility, not so much for what they look like. Nonetheless, both breed types make great family dogs and companions.
