Is It The Right Dog For You?
The Springer Spaniel is a friendly, eager, intelligent and willing dog. Never should the dog be skittish or act aggressively. Poor breeding has indicated these undesirable traits in the breed and careful research should be conducted when searching for a breeder.
Look for puppies who willingly approach people and who are curious and playful. The breed thrives off of early socialization and training so exposure to many different situations is key to having a well rounded dog.
They make great family dogs and are known for their over friendliness towards everyone - theirs tails never seem to stop wagging. Springers are very brave, obedient and energetic.
However, it is very important that there is structure within the household and boundaries are made clear. They are quick to realize when an owner is not in control and will take over the leadership role very quickly. This can lead to destructive and undesirable behaviours. Daily exercise is key in keeping the Springer happy and well behaved.
